Pupils and teachers at Castleisland Boys National School enjoyed a visit from Killarney National Park Education Centre on Tuesday.
Centre representative, Shonagh Gray arrived with a large collection of stuffed animals.
Predator/Prey Adaptations
The boys learned about predator/ prey adaptations, mammal ecology and conservation and they enjoyed the hands-on experience.
When the rain cleared up, the boys headed off to the local Castleisland Town Park on a Mini-Beast Hunt.
Under the Microscope
Equipped with nets, pooters and trays, they gathered bugs and insects. These were examined under microscopes and identified with guide books.
All were safely released (the bugs that is) back into their own habitats that evening.
It’s a Bug’s Life!
