Kerry County Council’s Severe Weather Management Team met again this morning to review preparations for the impact of Storm Lorenzo in the county.
A Met Éireann weather Status Orange warning remains in place for Kerry from 6pm today to 3am on Friday.
The Severe Weather Management Team reminds members of the public to check its website and social media channels for advice and information.
A phoneline will be available throughout the duration of the weather event to report emergencies to Kerry County Council – the number is 066 71 83 588.
Life-threatening emergencies should always be referred to the emergency services on 999.
Flooding Risks
Members of the public should avoid coastal areas as there is a risk of flooding and damage in coastal areas because of a high sea swell.
For the duration of the severe weather event, motorists should take extreme care on all roads and be mindful of the strong likelihood of debris, fallen trees and branches, and fallen power lines, particularly during Thursday evening and early Friday morning.
Outdoor Items Vulnerable
Secure items which are outdoors, and which are vulnerable to high winds
Kerry County Council will provide updates and further advisories through the local media and its social media channels as well as a dedicated weather alerts service on its website, www.kerrycoco.ie
