Milltown GP Vacancy – Danny and Michael on the Case

Brothers, Michael Healy Rae, TD and Danny Healy Rae, TD –  updating on the Milltown GP vacancy situation.

Danny Healy Rae, TD sent the following update on the ongoing Milltown GP vacancy situation.

As the HSE and local representatives continue to work together to seek a solution for the GP vacancy in Milltown, this requires further time than the original extension of mid-January 2020.

The HSE has extended the current locum arrangement for a further two months to mid-March 2020 and will re-advertise the panel in early January 2020.”

“I will continue my efforts to ensure the HSE do everything possible to provide a proper GP service for Milltown and the surrounding areas,” Deputy Healy Rae concluded.

Deputy Michael Healy Rae in Behind the Scenes Talks

Separately, Deputy Michael Healy Rae said that he has been holding talks with the HSE and an agency which supplies doctors to areas in need of their services.

Milltown, in this instance, fits the bill.

“I have been working hard on this issue behind the scenes for some time now and I have introduced the agency and representatives of the HSE dealing with the Milltown vacancy, said Deputy Michael.

“I would like to assure everyone in Milltown that we are continuing to work to find some type of solution which as I’m sure you appreciate is difficult given the current size of the list, the stand alone nature of practice and the available vacant posts across the country from which GP’s can choose,” he concluded.
