Millie’s Tribute to Her Nana
The late Mrs. McGaley’s grand-daughter and well known basketball player, Millie Luck wrote the following tribute to her Nana.
Great Love of Gardening
“Eilish’s great love was gardening, we all have her lilies and hydrangeas in our gardens.
Nana had great faith and could never pass the church in Castleisland without stopping to light a candle and say a little prayer.
Much of her garden and any flowers we gave to her always ended up at the statue of Our Lady in the church.
We all knew she was the kindest, gentlest lady but now after her passing, receiving all the condolences, it’s very moving for all of us how many hearts she touched with her smile, warmth and wit.
Everyone’s Second Home
The kitchen, everyone’s second home is where after any game, achievement or activity, I would come into the room and show off and would always be made a fuss of even if I did the wrong thing. This room was so much more than a kitchen, it was the heart of the McGaley family.
It’s the little cosy room where anyone of us could sit there in silence and feel nothing but love and comfort.
When I say the door was open. I mean it. This is true for every one of the McGaley children, grandchildren and anybody who knew her. No matter how big I grew, the room never changed.
Eilish will live in our hearts forever.” – Millie.
