Knocknagoshel Seniors Prevail Over Kilgarvan in Tense Away Game

Knocknagoshel prevailed in a tense round two junior championship game against the local side in Kilgarvan on Sunday afternoon.

Kilgarvan, lining out without Kerry U-20 star Donal O’Sullivan were first on the scoresheet with points by Daniel Casey and Richard O’Sullivan.

Knocknagoshel responded scoring 1-4 in a ten-minute spell. Points by Edmond Walsh (2), James Walsh and Michael Keane and a brilliant individual goal by Shane O’Connell with Kilgarvan scoring just one point in this time.

In added time at the end of the first half, Ronan Foley found the net for Kilgarvan to leave the half time score Kilgarvan 1-3 Knocknagoshel 1-5

Kilgarvan started the second half as they did the first – with a point by Daniel Casey.

Two James Walsh frees and a mark by John Bell extended Knocknagoshel’s lead to four points at eight minutes into the second half.

Remarkably, neither team would score for the next 17 minutes until Daniel Casey and John Mark Foley pointed in quick succession for the home side.

Knocknagoshel responded with points by James and Edmond Walsh.  Knocknagoshel goalkeeper Mike Casey saved an effort from point blank range in the closing stages.

Final score Kilgarvan 1-6 Knocknagoshel 1-10. Knocknagoshel will play Sneem / Derrynane in Round 3 on Saturday 8th August at 7pm in Beaufort.
