Deputy Michael Healy Rae TD is calling on members of the public to help support the country’s foresters and sawmills by making a submission to the Forestry Bill 2020.

The Kerry TD is supporting the call, which is also being backed nationally by the Rural Independent TD grouping.

“The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine has published draft emergency legislation and opened a consultation process in respect of the forestry appeals process,” said Deputy Healy Rae.

Licencing Crisis at Tipping Point

“Everyone in the industry is feeling the current licencing crisis and it’s at tipping point,” he continued.

The Kilgarvan based TD has called on people to fill out a simple submission by email to forestrybill2020@agriculture.gov.ie with a few simple facts about the current crisis.

Ensuring Robust Legislation

“This is to ensure that the legislation enacted in September will be as robust as possible. It is important that as many people within the forestry industry make sure their voice is heard,”said Deputy Healy Rae.
