The annual Kerry Hospice Foundation Coffee Morning fundraiser is yet another event taking the on-line route this year.
Castleisland fundraising branch chairman, Jack Shanahan said the change from live event to virtual is just another sign of the current times.
“Rather than abandon the idea completely, we have decided to see if people could join us on a virtual coffee morning,” said Jack.
Thirty Years of Coffee Mornings
“We’re so very grateful for all the support that we’ve received from the whole county over the last thirty years.
“This, unfortunately, is one year where we can’t thank you, drinking coffee together in person, for all the help you have given us. But we would be delighted if, on September the 24th, or any other day, you can raise your cuppa to yourselves.
Enormous Effort and Goodwill
“Consider the enormous effort and goodwill that has helped build both an inpatient and outpatient unit. Supporting thousands, and their families as they prepared for their final journeys. Both physical and other pains managed in a way that preserves dignity and spirit.
“None of us are islands. We all depend on our communities.
Kerry Hospice Movement
“The Kerry Hospice movement has been a community organisation all the way, run and supported by ourselves.
“We’re not finished, there is still work to be done. There will always be demand for palliative care. It’s our job to ensure there will always be the resources to provide the best possible professional service.
Join In a Virtual Coffee Morning
“So, join us on our virtual coffee morning. Whether it’s on Zoom, Whatsapp or simply sitting in your own kitchen, enjoying your own company.
“Salute yourselves for all the contributions you have made. We, too, will be saluting you and your loyal support to this great self-help journey,” said Jack and he concluded with a stand-out quote from a departed Kerry Hospice Foundation stalwart:
“Remember Ted Moynihan’s legendary wish: ‘May you never need hospice, but we will always need you.’
