Wind Farm Fund Applications Open for Lyre and Knocknagoshel Community Projects

An annual €10,000 Community Fund is now open for 2020 applications and is designed to benefit projects in Knocknagoshel and Lyreacrompane.

The South and East Cork Area Development CLG (SECAD) expressed its delight in announcing that the Dromadda Beg Wind Farm Community Fund associated with the Dromadda Beg Wind Farm is now open for applications.

Index Linked Community Funds

The €10,000 annual fund provided by RWE and index linked in line with inflation,opened in 2019 and will be available for the operational lifetime of the wind farm, expected to be some 25 years. SECAD acts as a grant making organisation overseeing the management, administration, and delivery of the fund.

The fund opened for applications on 21 September, and supports initiatives within 5km of the wind farm and including the communities of Knocknagoshel and Lyreacrompane.

Quality of Life Enhancing

“I’m delighted that this year the Fund will be used for practical, quality of life enhancing, community building projects,” said Cathal Hennessy, Managing Director, RWE.

The closing date for applications is November 2nd and letters of offers will be issued to the successful applicants by early December 2020,”
