Christy’s Deep Involvement in Local GAA Club

The late Christy Brosnan was deeply involved in the affairs of Knocknagoshel GAA Club over many years and was the club’s vice president up to the time of his passing.

At sports meetings on Pattern Day in the village or at football matches at Walsh Park, Christy’s smiling face was a constant presence.

I thought the photograph of Christy with the little boy is typical of his character. Pure Christy.

He made so much of the little man’s achievements and praised him as he clutched the medals he won at the pattern in 2013.
The depth of Christy’s family involvement was underlined here on The Maine Valley Post only last month when his club’s PRO Paul Doogan reported that two of Christy’s grandsons, Shane and Mikey were on the St. Barnabas GAA Club team that won the 2020 New York Senior Football Championship.

Paul also reported that Christy’s son Mike is the chairman of the St. Barnabas club and the same Mike was the man-of-the-match when St. Kieran’s defeated Dr. Crokes to win the Kerry senior football championship in 1988.

May God be good to him.
