Community College Student Awarded UCC Scholarship

Castleisland Community College past pupil, Kevin Keane has been awarded a University College Cork Entrance Scholarship on the strength of his outstanding leaving certificate achievements.

Kevin Keane, a past pupil of Castleisland Community College, was awarded a University College Cork Entrance Scholarship for the 20/21 academic year on the basis of his Leaving Certificate results.

Kevin received the maximum points of 625 in his Leaving Certificate and he also achieved the ninety third percentile in his Health Professions Admission Test result.

He is presently studying medicine in UCC.

Outstanding Achievement Award

The Quercus Entrance Scholarship is awarded to students for their outstanding achievement. Professor John O Halloran, Interim President of University College Cork, invited Castleisland Community College Principal Teresa Lonergan to the virtual Scholarship Awards Ceremony which was held on Tuesday, 30 March 2021.

A Great Role Model

Ms. Lonergan said that Kevin was a great role model for younger students and he showed that it is possible to attend to one’s studies but still balance extra-curricular activities with academic work.
