Brígh Harkin is nine years old and just finished third class at Scartaglen National School.
Last year she decided to grow and cut her hair to donate to The Little Princess Trust.
The trust provides wigs free of charge to children who need them in Ireland and the UK.
The charity has a constant and real need for longer hair for the making of these vital pieces for the unfortunate children who find themselves in need of them.
Over a Year’s Growth
“It took Brígh over a year to grow her locks to help meet that need,” said her mom Janet.
“On June 11th she got it cut by Norma in Shine Hairdressing in Castleisland and she managed to grow a total of 16 inches to send off to her chosen charity.
“She has also done a fundraiser for LauraLynn Children’s Hospice while her locks were lengthening and raised €1,600 for the charity,” said the justifiably proud mom.
Arty and Sporty
Brígh is both arty and sporty as she loves ballet and gymnastics and she was taking swimming lessons until the pandemic struck and closed all these avenues to enthusiasts.
Closer to home she plays her football with the Scartaglen U-10 team and, though living in Cordal, her heart is very much in Scart and in Gortacoppal in particular.
