Independent TD Michael Healy Rae has called on the HSE and the department of health to pay the healthcare support workers their proper wage.
“It’s ridiculous to think that for the past four months these people are being fobbed off and they are being told that the money that is rightfully owed to them will not be paid in full due to the cyber attack,” said Deputy Healy Rae.
“At the same time other workers in the healthcare system are being paid correctly.
“These workers are vital to help in the care of people at home, which is the preferred place for any patient or family.
“This needs to be rectified as a matter of urgency now,” he said in conclusion.
