Minister for Education and Kerry TD Norma Foley welcomed the announcement of €260,000 in funding to support enhancement of street-scapes and shopfronts in Kerry.

The Street-scape Enhancement Initiative provides funding to property owners to improve the facades of their buildings and to help rural towns and villages to continue to be inviting places to live, work and visit.

Rural Towns and Villages

Rural towns and villages can use this funding to upgrade building facades, provide attractive shrubberies and flower boxes as well as install creative lighting projects for architectural features.

In total €7 million nationally has been made available for this scheme and the allocation of funding is based on the number of towns and villages in each county.

Vibrant, Attractive Localities

This initiative will ensure that towns and villages throughout the county continue to grow and prosper  while remaining colourful, vibrant and attractive localities to live and work.”
