Minister for Education and Kerry TD Norma Foley has welcomed the announcement of €14,822,893 in payments for over 6,000 Kerry farmers under the Areas of Natural Constraint (ANC) scheme.
The ANC scheme provides payments to people farming land in designated disadvantaged areas.
It aims to support the continuation of farming in these area by compensating farmers for the additional costs involved in farming such land.
In total payments worth just under €182 million are issuing this week to almost 85,000 farmers nationwide.
Timely Boost for Kerry Farmers
Minister Foley said that the news is to be welcomed as this funding will provide a timely boost for farmers across Kerry.
“The ANC scheme provides crucial supports to the Kerry farming industry and the first tranche of payments to be made under the scheme and will be issued to eligible applicants this week,” said Minister Foley.
Outstanding Stocking Evidence
Regular pay runs will continue in the coming weeks to ensure cleared cases are processed for payment as quickly as possible.
Farmers should submit any outstanding stocking evidence in support of their application to the Department’s Portlaoise Office as soon as possible to facilitate the early release of payments.
