Team Garvey’s Tough Opener against Glanmire

It was a big night for Team Garvey’s Paris McCarthy who made her debut in the super-league.
Le’Jzea Davidson sustained an ankle injury in the early part of the game but she kept right on going.

Team Garvey’s was no match for Glanmire when they met them in the first game of the ladies MissQuote.ie superleague on Friday last.

It was always expected to be a tough challenge given Glanmire’s years of experience at this level.

Glanmire had a huge first quarter hitting 28 points to the Castleisland side’s 13.

Gigi Smith was unstoppable throughout the game for the Cork side hitting shot after shot.

Ankle Injury Sustained

Team Garvey’s Le’Jzea Davidson sustained an ankle injury in the early part of the game but managed to keep going. However, she went over on the same ankle in the dying stages.

Glanmire continued to excel as the game progressed leaving the final score at 112 to 41 in favour of the Cork side.

Team Garvey’s: Le’Jzea Davidson 17, Lorraine Scanlon 12 and Rheanne O’Shea 6 Glamire: Gigi Smith hit 29, Claire O’Sullivan 18 and Aine McKenna 17.

Despite the disappointing result, it was however, a big night for Team Garvey’s Paris McCarthy who made her debut in super-leage as a starting five.

Home Game on Saturday

Team Garvey’s next game will be next Saturday evening October 16th in Castleisland when they face Fr. Mathews.

Tip off for the Team Garvey’s V Fr. Mathew’s is at 6.30pm in Castleisland Community Centre.
