Michael Moynihan is a nutritional and life-style coach who works with people in order to support them in meeting their career and health goals.
These goals may be to lose weight, increase every-day energy, improve stress management, or with people who are just passionate about reaching optimal health or perhaps the goal is something different, such as a career change or lifestyle change.
His work varies and his targets are dependent on individual desires for change and improvement.
“My typical clients however, tend to be individuals who want to lose weight and who are tired and fed up with the diet industry or who have an all-important family event coming up and want to look and feel their best,” said Michael.
Dietary and Lifestyle Factors
“Here I would work with the individual not just looking at their diet but also other lifestyle factors
which are relevant to weight loss and wellness, such as sleep, levels of stress, exercise and movement.
“I’m a firm believer in that there is no one-size-fits-all so I customise my approach to the unique requirements of each person. Following a consultation, I make dietary and lifestyle recommendations, supported with meal planning. We work collaboratively to turn the desired outcome into clear action steps in order to help people reach their personal goals.
“This approach is further supported by coaching sessions to help motivate and achieve sustainable behavioural change, which is key to maintain long term success.”
Keen on Health and Nutrition
In explaining why he chose this career path Michael said that he always had a keen interest in health and nutrition, the healing properties it brings with it and he firmly believes that with a good diet and lifestyle, we can improve our health and help protect ourselves against future illness.
“I also really enjoy working with people to enable them to make the link between what we eat and how we feel physically, mentally and emotionally.
“Supporting individuals to regain control over their health and the life-changing benefits that brings can be very rewarding,” said Michael.
Much More Than a Job
“For me it’s so much more than a job, it’s become my way of life, and that’s what I love. We should never underestimate the power and importance of supporting people to regain control over their health – this is why I do what I do.
“I spent over 15 years in the corporate world, in the financial crime field, and it was so completely at odds with the health-conscious and healthy person I wanted to be.
“This was at a time in my life when I gained an incredible amount of weight although I was hitting the gym daily and not eating all that badly.
Constantly Tired and Exhausted
“I was travelling a lot for work, I had worked my way up the career ladder and had set up my own consultancy business.
And while the career and lifestyle seemed very glamorous from the outside, I found that I was constantly tired and exhausted and no longer satisfied with my lifestyle and my health.
“I knew I needed to change my lifestyle and my eating habits, I knew I needed to lose weight and to reclaim my health.
“I started to make small dietary and lifestyle changes and very soon I started to see the results: more energy, improved sleep, healthier skin, more stable digestion and the weight was finally coming off.
Towards Personal Goals
“Through this very personal experience, I found a new way of life and a reminder that health and nutrition was something I was always passionate about – and I suppose this is what led me to get into the field I’m in today.
“My experience of leaving the corporate world and focusing on helping others optimise their health through nutrition and lifestyle changes is a move I’m so glad I made.
“It has enabled me to pursue a career in which guiding people towards personal goal achievement brings its own rewards and it’s a way of life which I love,” said Michael.
