Consignment of Rubbish from Killarney Road, Abbeyfeale on Castleisland By-Pass

The Castleisland by-pass as photographed by John Riordan today. Household rubbish and the packaging from a consignment of fashion-wear addressed to a woman in Abbeyfeale blight the roadside under and around the Mullaghmarkey fly-over.

There are many by-products of the periods of lock-down and restrictions – good and bad.

The good ones were nearly all carried out behind the scenes in society with the good ones helping out neighbours to make light of daily chores.

The bad ones have prevailed right through the periods mentioned and the worst of these are abandoned face masks and other rubbish thrown from cars and left on the sides of roads.

The Cut of the Bypass

I was asked only a few days ago if I had seen ‘the cut of the bypass with litter?

I hadn’t and was about to have a look tomorrow but local man John Riordan, St. Stephen’s Park, sent me a batch of photographs from his walk today.

John’s images portray an outstandingly ugly example of the disgusting lack of respect a section of society holds for the rest of the population.

These images, to which John rightly called the attentions of a litter warden, are taken from the edges of the Castleisland By-pass between the Tralee Road and Dooneen, Limerick Road roundabouts.

Consignment from Abbeyfeale

This spate of dumping occurred around the area under the Mullaghmarkey fly-over and part of the consignment seen by the litter warden is a package addressed to a woman on the Killarney Road in Abbeyfeale.

Her roadside discarded package has now informed the litter warden that it once contained a just pre-Christmas consignment of: cardigans, ear-rings, socks, low ankle boots, denim jumpers, hats / hair.

Exact Address and Post Code

The information on the label also provides the litter warden with her exact address on Killarney Road, Abbeyfeale and is complete with a post code for good measure.

Thanks to John Riordan for his diligence and sense of civic pride and for going to the trouble.
