Goals win matches and it could rightly be said it was Curtins for Tarbert at the weekend as Brosna took to the pitch on Sunday for its first match of 2022.
Stepping up against a Tarbert team which had a league game already under its belt, the home side looked a little rusty.
The weather certainly proved to be problematic as the wet and windy conditions caused havoc in ball handling, delivery and shooting.
New Personnel
With some new personnel on the pitch for Brosna in the form of Dara Nash, Josh Ennis and Evan Lane, it was great to see these talented lads in action.
Some of the more seasoned players put on a spirited performance notably goals delivered up by our own Dave Curtin and Shane Curtin were telling.
A slew of points from Timmy Finnegan in the second half during Brosna’s purple patch with additional scores from Conor Lane, Flor McAuliffe and Kieran O’Donnell saw Brosna build a strong lead.
Good Start for New Team
Unfortunately, in the last 10 minutes the home-side lost momentum and Tarbert tacked on one point after another ultimately coming within a point of Brosna.
Luckily, the home team held on and secured the win. A good start by our new management team and refreshed squad.
A lot to look forward to. Full time score: Brosna 2-8. Tarbert 0-13.
Winners Alright
Congratulations to two amazing parish athletes who achieved glory running with An Ríocht at the Munster Championships in Nenagh on Saturday.
Méabh O’Connor 2nd U15 800m. David Lane 2nd U16 200m. Such talent and dedication. Well done.
