After two years of uncertainty and not knowing what the future may bring, we are absolutely thrilled to be able to return to the stage with the hilarious comedy, It’s The Real McCoy.

You could wring the delight from that opening line of reaction from the Sliabh Luachra Drama group members as they prepare to step back on stage in Scartaglen with the Tommy Marren crafted play.

“In February 2020 we had a run of 12 sell out shows with this play and it delighted many an audience,” said group spokesperson, Moira Hughes.

“We were extremely fortunate to have just finished before Covid hit and we had such fantastic success with it.

Full Houses in 2020

“ We had full houses every night and everyone loved the feel good vibe this play brought.

“Last year we were very disappointed like everyone else in this sector not to be able to hold our annual production.

“So, when restrictions eased in January, we regrouped and decided that this hilarious comedy was the feel good play everyone would need at the moment and especially after the last two years. It’s fantastic to be able to return and people have really missed the live drama and the entertainment value it brings – we cannot wait to get back on the stage next Thursday night,” Moira said.

Set in Rural Ireland

The play, set in rural Ireland in 1964, is a story of two dramatic days in the life of Madge Molloy who has lived over four decades of her life wondering why her husband of only four months vanished without a trace.

The arrival to the parish of a new curate Fr. Micheal McCoy is about to throw a light on the reasons why her husband Tom Molloy left and what unfolds is a series of events that will have you in tears of laughter.

“Its endless, hilarious one liners and colourful characters takes you on a roller coaster of comedy that you won’t want to exit!

From Beginning to End

This is a play that will be thoroughly enjoyed by a wide audience of both young and old. This play with its amazing wit and unique and gripping story line makes it just the play that people will thoroughly enjoy from beginning to end,” said Moira.

The cast includes as follows: Madge Molloy- Moira Hughes; Maura Molloy- Mary Fleming; Martin Daly- Danny O’ Leary; Nora O’ Hora – Lorraine Salmon; Cora O’ Hora – Ciara Kerin; Fr. Michael McCoy – John Walsh and Tom Molloy- Tim Dineen.
