St. Patrick’s Secondary School T.Y. students are currently working with one of Ireland’s leading training providers, International Academy of Computer Training (IACT) to develop their ICT skillset.

Advances in technology and ICT are constant. While students are very able and adept in certain aspects of technology, it is becoming more and more important to broaden the range and depth of ICT skills to prepare for future careers.

Engaging and Easy to Follow

The course content is unique, engaging and easy to follow. The courses are student lead, meaning they learn at their own pace,” said teacher, Tim Long.

Students have their own login to IACT’s eLearning Portal. They can login on any device in school or at home. They are taught through bite-sized easy to follow videos and examples and each course is certified,” Mr. Long continued.

They will complete three modules over the coming months which cover a wide and diverse range of skills. Course content includes; computer skills, career skills and driving skills.

Initial Skills Test

When students select a course, they will be asked to complete an initial skills test. This is a series of questions which gives the programmers an initial baseline score. After the initial quiz, students begin learning and complete a quiz before moving to the next section of the module.

IACT provides students with an exciting and appealing method of learning,” Mr. Long concluded.
