Castleisland Community College transition year students have entered the spirit of the Junk Kouture competition 2022.
Junk Kouture is a competition for post-primary school students aged 13–18. Students must design and create an item of haute couture created from only recycled materials.
Viktoria Angelova’s entry ‘The Mad Hatter’ was inspired by wasteful packaging and the character in the Alice in Wonderland film.
Teamwork in Action
Victoria, Jessica O’Loughlin and Lea Voigtlander created the outfit. Katelyn O’Keeffe’s outfit was made by herself, Miriam O’Connell and Kerry Costello.
The name of the outfit ‘A grade doesn’t define you’ is made up entirely of exam papers.
David Peskett designed his outfit with the help of Pierce Flynn and Edward Roche.
Titled ‘The Reflector’ it relates to how we are all absorbed by our internet devices today and how obsessed we all are with our looks.
Fun and Enjoyment
“The students worked in groups over the last number of months creating their designs and have had great fun and enjoyment in designing their creations.
“They have sent photos of their outfits to the adjudicators and await to see if they will be shortlisted for the regional finals,” said a college spokesperson.
