As they prepare for their big night of celebration at the River Island Hotel tonight, Castleisland Desmonds GAA Ladies Club members are basking in the glow of a long and remarkable list of victories.

Pride of place at tonight’s victory dinner will go to hard earned silverware including county and Munster intermediate championship cups.

And this wing of the club is also attracting attention as a vital sporting outlet for the young women of the general area and their success makes it an attractive focus for sponsorship.

Tom Mann from The Crown Bar and Budweiser linked arms recently and presented the ladies with a cheque for €500 earlier this week.

“As a father of teenage girls myself I am very aware of the importance of ladies sport and all at The Crown are delighted to be associated with the club,” said Tom.

He also thanked all involved with the club for their ‘fantastic commitment to ladies sport in Castleisland’ and his partners in helping to provide the sponsorship package.

“We wish the girls all the best and we know there will be a lot more from this wonderful team over the next couple of seasons,” he said.
