Minister Foley Welcomes Over €3m in Funding for Housing Adaptation Grants

Minister Norma Foley said it’s important for people to continue to live in their own homes with independence. 

Minister for Education and Kerry TD Norma Foley welcomes the announcement of €3,006,250 in funding for housing adaptation grants for older people and people with a disability.

The Government is providing €2,405,000 in grant funding while Kerry County Council will provide a further €601,250 for the scheme.      

Grants of up to €30,000 are available to assist people with a disability in carrying out necessary works to make a house more suitable for their needs.

€8,000 for Necessary Repairs

Additionally, grants of up to €8,000 are available to assist older people to have necessary repairs or improvements carried out on their homes and grants of up to €6,000 are available for mobility aids. 

Minister Foley said that the funding will have a huge impact on the quality of life of the many beneficiaries.

“It will enhance the lives of older people and those with disabilities throughout County Kerry. “Home adaptations are vital to ensure that people who are reaching an age in life when they are less mobile have the option to continue to live independently in their own homes,” said Minister Foley.
