Castleisland will host the start and finish of the annual Opel/Vauxhall Kerry, Wild Atlantic Way Vintage/Classic Car Run on Sunday, May 8th from 9am.

“Ahern’s Garage, Tralee Road, Castleisland is this year’s headquarters. Owners Pat and Paul Ahern have kindly come on board as our main sponsors and we are delighted to have them,” said event spokesperson, Michael Horan.

Established in Castleisland in 1927

“The Ahern family established a garage and service outlet in Castleisland in 1927 for Bedford and Vauxhall and are now the only Opel Dealers franchise in Kerry.

“The sign on commences at 9am and light refreshments will be provided. Cars will depart at 11am.

“We have chosen a route which will encompass the scenic views of West Kerry and will include: Cathair Chonroí in the Slieve Mish Mountains; Inch; Minard Castle; Dingle; Slea Head and returning via Conor Pass.

Palliative Care UHK

“This year’s charity we have chosen is Palliative Care UHK, Tralee. We were delighted to have Mary Shanahan, Secretary of Kerry Hospice Foundation at our launch on Monday evening.

“They opened a new state of the art 15-bed Specialist Palliative in-patient unit at UHK in 2017 and their mission is the provision of specialist palliative care services which supports patients who are living with an advancing illness.

“We are really looking forward to seeing you all on May 8th. So until then … Stay Safe… and Keep polishing,” said Mr. Horan.
