Castleisland & Corca Dhuibhne Municipal District Meeting Today from 10:30am

Cllr. Charlie Farrelly is asking Kerry County Council again to paint the wall surrounding the council’s own gift to Castleisland now 12 months after its completion. The next meeting of the members of the Municipal District of Castleisland/Corca Dhuibhne will be held via MS Teams today Thursday, May 19th. at 10.30am to consider the under mentioned items.

Notices of Motion are as follows:

Cllr. Michael O’Shea: To ask the MD Manager to investigate and report on the poor broadband coverage in Lispole.

Cllr. Charlie Farrelly: In conjunction with the bid that Kerry County Council placed for the purchase of the Bank of Ireland in Castleisland, what if any detailed submission was furnished to the sellers, indicating the plans the building would benefit the local community in Castleisland and surrounding areas.

Cllr. Breandán Fitzgerald: That Castleisland & Corca Dhuibhne MD continue to support the Sister City initiative between Corca Dhuibhne and West Springfield and do all that it can to help Dingle Peninsula Tourism Alliance strengthen this great and worthwhile initiative.

Cllr. Fionnán Fitzgerald: Can Kerry County Council continue its pursuit of finding and purchasing a site in Castleisland for a place of work for staff in the Council and also for an active Tourism Centre as we approach 800 years of a castle being at Castleisland.

Cllr. Fionnán Fitzgerald: Can Kerry County Council liaise with An Garda Siochana with a view to improving security at the recently developed Glounsharoon Viewing Point. This has become an issue especially in view of the recent damage to benches at the site.

Cllr. Michael O’Shea: To ask the MD Manager to write to the Minister for Communications on behalf of the people of Lispole requesting that the post box at Keane’s Shop, Lispole be urgently reinstated. This has been decommissioned since storm damage last October.

Cllr. Michael O’Shea: To ask the MD manager who is responsible for the servicing defibrillators, which are located in prime community and sporting locations across the county. Are proper service checks carried out on each and how frequently?

Cllr. Charlie Farrelly: Once again I am calling on Kerry County Council to paint the gable end of the property where the mural is painted at Lower Main Street, Castleisland.

Cllr. Michael O’Shea: To ask the MD Manager will Irish Water and Kerry County Council provide extra ground for car parking at Brandon village.

The ground in question is part of a sewage treatment plant which could facilitate parking.

Cllr. Séamus Cosai Fitzgerald: A grant of €100,000 has been awarded by the Department of Rural Affairs to upgrade the deteriorating state of St. John’s Burial Ground in Dingle. When is it expected to see the works undertaken?

Cllr.Séamus Cosai Fitzgerald: Last September the family of a deceased person asked me to get what was needed by way of permission to erect a plaque in his memory on the specially built memorial wall at St. Brendan’s Memory in Dingle. Nine months later, I have still heard nothing.

Cllr. Séamus Cosai Fitzgerald: Has Irish Water addressed the water quality issues which have come to attention in the Brandon area?

Cllr. Michael 0’Shea: In relation Local Authority Home Loans -To ask that the cap price on the market value of €250,000 be increased to €350,000 and that the single person income of €50,000 be increased to €65,000 to align with other counties.

Cllr. Michael 0’Shea: To ask Kerry County Council if there are any future plans to purchase lands to facilitate the social housing needs in Castlegregory, Annascaul and Lispole.

Cllr. Michael 0’Shea: To ask the Roads Department of Kerry County Council to address issues at Castlegregory village, where the L 12263 connects with the L 12264 at Strand Street. Sight distance is very poor and there is an urgent need for speed signs and a traffic safety mirror.

Cllr. Michael 0’Shea: To ask that Kerry County Council work with local agencies to get the wall, which forms part of the Godfrey Estate along the L 12216 at Rathpooke, Milltown repaired and reconstructed.

Cllr. Séamus Cosai Fitzgerald: Has Kerry County Council progressed plans to construct new toilets in Dingle?

Cllr. Séamus Cosai Fitzgerald: Has any progress been made by Kerry County Council in relation to the application for funding to the OPW to repair the damaged sea wall at the rear of the Wood Cottages in Dingle?

Cllr. Séamus Cosai Fitzgerald: How come Council Management have not taken up the offer from Landowners regarding the offer of additional lands for temporary car parks at our busy tourism resorts of West Kerry?

Cllr. Séamus Cosai Fitzgerald: Will Kerry County Council address the damaged ditches which also act as a safety barrier on the section of road from Peddlars Lake up to the Conor Pass car park?

Cllr. Charlie Farrelly: I am asking Kerry County Council what steps have been taken to take in charge the River Walk in Castleisland.

Cllr. Charlie Farrelly: I am calling on Kerry County Council to carry out repairs to a bridge on the L 1 1125 Ballydesmond which has been in disrepair for a long time.

Cllr. Charlie Farrelly: I am requesting Kerry County Council to carry out an urgent upgrade on road markings at various junctions around the one way system at the bottom of Castleisland town.

Cllr. Charlie Farrelly: I am calling on Kerry County Council to repair the boundary fence at the Junction of the L2032 and the L3007, Ballynahalla Cross. This fence was erected at this junction by Kerry County Council for better sight vision and was damaged as a result of a traffic accident over a year ago.

Cllr. Breandán Fitzgerald: That the Castleisland Corca Dhuibhne Municipal District talk with the Google, Tll, Department and all relevant Ministers about the many issues that Sat Nav’s are causing by bringing cars, buses, trucks and vans along the routes which are unsuitable for certain modes of transport. A system must be setup where errors like this can be dealt with quickly.

CIIr. Breandán Fitzgerald: That Castleisland & Corca Dhuibhne MD look at the problem of knotweed in two areas of Lios Póil. Those areas are by the side of the road going down to Tubber and along the bank of the river from Lios P6il Bridge to Foheragh.

Cllr. Breandán Fitzgerald: That Castleisland & Corca Dhuibhne MD look at all options in reducing the speed of cars on John Street and that a location for 20 minute parking be put on the John Street like other streets in Dingle town.

Cllr. Breandán Fitzgerald: That Castleisland & Corca Dhuibhne MD look to provide public toilets (even temporary ones) to service Brandon Bay and Minard for the Summer season.

CIIr. Fionnán Fitzgerald: Can Kerry County Council provide an update in relation to proposals submitted to Tll to improve the pedestrian crossing at Knockaderry National School Farranfore.

CIIr. Fionnán Fitzgerald: Can a traffic management plan be investigated at Glenageenty with a view to applying for funding for the upgrade of same. The area is completely choked with traffic especially during the summer months and locals have great difficulty using the roads there for farming and general daily travel.

CIIr. Fionnán Fitzgerald: In view of the installation of new water pipes in the Flemby, Clashatlea, Ashill and Lisataggle areas can Kerry County Council alter its road maintenance plan in the area. it would be better to do this after Irish Water has its works completed rather than during it.

Also, can Kerry County Council work with Irish Water in order to ensure proper road drainage in the area once works are completed?

Cllr. Michael O’Shea: To ask the Area Engineer has the work been undertaken on the L 12098 in terms of road widening at Lispole to facilitate a footpath and parking of vehicles with the purpose for servicing the school, community hall and the GAA grounds?

Cllr. Michael O’Shea: To ask Kerry County Council to include the Doonore South Road (L 12165) in this year’s Discretionary Grants Programme.

Cllr. Séamus Cosai Fitzgerald: When exactly does Kerry County Council intend installing the Public Toilets at the Ceann Tra car park?

Cllr. Séamus Cosai Fitzgerald: What plans are in place by Kerry County Council to deal with traffic congestion on the Slea Head Road this year?

Cllr. Charlie Farrelly: Following up on my query which I raised at our last Municipal District meeting, ‘on which footpath projects in the Castleisland LEA was the €30,000 footpath allocation spent last year.’

Cllr. Charlie Farrelly: When will the new seat which was situated near the fountain in the Latin Quarter, Lower Main Street, Castleisland be installed to its original location?

Cllr. Breandán Fitzgerald: Can all the successful initiatives that have been carried out through working with the Maharees Conservation Association be continued for this Summer season?

Cllr. Breandán Fitzgerald: When will the Public Toilets at Ventry Beach be repaired and ready for use, this is a vital public service and must be in place before the Summer season?

Cllr. Breandán Fitzgerald: When will the Coastal Flood and Erosion Risk Management Study for Maharees (Tralee Bay-Ballyheigue to Brandon Point) be published?

CIIr. Breandán Fitzgerald: Can additional chestnut fencing be provided for Brandon Bay (particularly around the public right of way at the Grotto). This versatile, long-lasting fencing which the Maharees Conservation Association erect for the summer season to protect the sand dunes is vital.

CIIr. Breandán Fitzgerald: Can the Castleisland & Corca Dhuibhne MD look at providing a better view for road users by lowering the fence at the top of the Minard Road to the T-Junction for traffic travelling from Garynadur to Doonties?

CIIr. Fionnán Fitzgerald: Can the L-10716 at Brosna be repaired with the durapatcher in order to maintain the road as it has become quite worn.

CIIr. Fionnán Fitzgerald: Can the L-10595 northern end have its potholes repaired and filled as this section of the road has become quite worn.

CIIr. Fionnán Fitzgerald: Can the L-6544 have the dips on the road filled as it has become quite dangerous to travel in recent months.

CIIr. Fionnán Fitzgerald: Can all exits, T-junctions, bends etc on our roads be inspected from a safety point of view over the summer months. Doing this would help greatly with traffic safety as we approach a time of strong plant and grass growth.

Cllr. Séamus Cosai Fitzgerald: Will Kerry County Council write to the Department of Social Welfare Services requesting that when people who are applying for the Free Travel Pass, they can do so at their own local offices? lt is unfair that people have to travel to Tralee to furnish the relevant information in regard to same.
