5K Walk in Honour of Connie Fitzgerald – ‘A Proud Currans Man’

The family and friends of the late Connie Fitzgerald of Currans, who passed away after a very brief illness in January 2020, are coming together on this Sunday, May 29th in his memory.

They have organised a 5K Walk around the Currans area,  starting and finishing at the local hall followed by refreshments.

They encourage everyone to come along and enjoy a walk in the countryside while supporting two local organisations, Currans Community Hall and the Rural Development Group.
Deeply Involved in Fundraising
Connie was deeply involved with both of these groups over the years by way of fundraising for the renovating of the community hall and as an active volunteer with the Rural Development Group.  His untimely passing at the age of 57 years was very unexpected and shocked many people in the locality, he was always available to help the community when called upon.

A Great Sense of Humour

He was a popular character with young and old, had a great sense of humour and made friends easily by way of his helpful nature.

Connie was an agri contractor for many years and worked with PST Astro-turf company for a few years before his passing.

A Loyal Currow GAA Supporter

He was also a loyal Currow GAA supporter, coached underage teams, was a selector with the senior team for a few years and also a dedicated volunteer who helped in many ways with the upkeep of the club grounds.
Connie’s wife Kay, children Megan, Luke and Ciara feel the Currans 5K walk In his memory is very appropriate as he was so involved in all activities in the village over the years and such a proud ‘Currans Man.’
