Cllr. Fionnán Fitzgerald and Cllr. Charlie Farrelly have both welcomed the funding announcement for Island Point.

Cllr. Fionnán Fitzgerald (FF) and Cllr. Charlie Farrelly (Ind) have welcomed the news that Island Point, Tralee Road, Castleisland is to receive funding of just over €74,000 under the Connected Hubs Voucher Scheme announced yesterday by Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, TD.

The announcement by Minister Humphreys is part of a series of new initiatives aimed at making remote working more accessible and attractive to thousands of people in rural Ireland.

“The Island Point is a busy and accessible hub providing very high quality office space with excellent broadband and facilities,” Cllr. Fitzgerald said.

Expertise and Ideas Sharing

“The fact that there is a number of organisations operating from the building leads to a great sharing of expertise and ideas.

“The funding announced will improve the facilities at Island Point for all who are using it and those intending to use it in the future,” he said.

Cllr. Fitzgerald’s Kerry County Council colleague, Cllr. Charlie Farrelly also greeted the news as a positivity for the area and he congratulated proprietor, Séamus O’Brien on his initiative and success.

“It’s one of the best and most positive developments in the town for years and now that the government is rethinking the working from home and hubs idea, Island Point will be ideally placed to take up that challenge on behalf of Castleisland and its environs,” said Cllr. Farrelly.
