Members of the public are invited to a Sports Fest at Castleisland Community Centre on this Thursday, June 30th from 2pm to 4pm for an afternoon of games, activities and a cup of tea.

“This Sports Fest, organised by Castleisland Day care Centre management and staff will provide a lovely opportunity to meet people, have some fun and find out more about your local day care centre,” said centre Nurse Manager Marcella Finn.

“We also had a visit last week from Breda Dyland from the health link bus. We have been knitting for its service users recently and she was presented with the blankets knit by centre clients.

Breda explained to the day care group that the blankets are given to those going through their cancer journey.

Hours of Knitting

“The blankets are a reminder that they are not going through the journey on their own but with the support of individuals and groups like Castleisland Day Care Centre who spend many hours knitting the blankets,” said Ms.Dyland.

She was also delighted to accept a donation of €400 from staff member Rita McCarthy.

Rita had a craft stall at the recent Castleisland Community Indoor Market where she sold hand crafted items and bric a brac.

Health Link Transport

Rita presented the proceeds from the sale and some donations to Breda towards the Health Link transport.

Rita said that she was delighted to be able to support such an invaluable transport service which users can avail of free of charge from Kerry for their cancer treatment in hospitals in Cork and Limerick.
