Kerry Needs an Emergency Budget Now – Daly

Sinn Féin TD Pa Daly said that he’s inundated with calls and emails from people who are struggling majorly with the spiraling costs of living.

Sinn Féin TD for Kerry, Pa Daly, has spoken about his party’s motion calling for an emergency budget to help workers and families deal with the cost of living crisis.

Teachta Daly said that he’s inundated with calls and emails from people who are struggling majorly. “In many cases, work does not pay for them as they cannot afford the fuel to drive there,” he said.

With schools on going on holidays now, they are already living in fear of September, when costs for back to school will push them to the brink.

Cannot Wait ’til October

Keeping the light and heat on in the winter months is also a concern already. It is clear that people in Kerry cannot wait until October, or 2023, for solutions to be provided.

Yet there is a disregard for these concerns that borders on callousness from the government. Michael Martin and Leo Varadkar are divided and chaotic on the matter, openly contradicting each other.

Targeted Measures Needed Now

Sinn Féin’s message by contrast is clear: We need targeted measures and an emergency budget now.

In government, we would raise the minimum wage, reduce childcare costs and introduce a tax credit for renters. Action is required, and the government needs to step up to the plate,” Teachta Daly concluded.
