Garda Press Statement on Castleisland’s Thursday Night ‘Emergency’

The Garda Press statement promised by Gardaí at the road blocks and diversions on either end of the town stretch of Tralee Road last night arrived and reads as follows:

On Thursday evening, 6th October 2022, the services of the Army EOD was requested at Castleisland Garda Station in Kerry following the discovery of a device.
An Garda Síochána put a security cordon in place.

The device was found to be non-viable.”

Took No Chances

The members of the force on emergency duty on Thursday night remained tight-lipped as to the nature of the emergency they were dealing with.

They took no chances with the health and safety of their Tralee Road neighbours as they evacuated a residents between the area from the Back-of-the-Forge back to Riverside Drive.

Friends and Family

Residents were initially asked to go to the River Island Hotel but most of them contacted family members in other areas of the town.

One man went to the hotel but was collected by friends or family.

A Garda investigation is ongoing into the circumstances surrounding last night’s emergency.
