Primary Progress at Scoil Mhuire
Last week, Scoil Mhuire, Brosna hosted Minister for Education, Norma Foley and other local dignitaries for the opening of a newly constructed connecting corridor, seamlessly added to the existing structure.
In an enjoyable and perfectly organised event, Principal John Cahill and his capable staff laid on a multi-faceted celebration of all that’s wonderful about this school.
With a large community crowd, I am sure I wasn’t the only one to have a sweeping feeling of nostalgia about the years I spent in the school. The current student body danced and sang. Prayers were said. Tea and cakes consumed.
There’s something incredibly uplifting about a school – filled with young minds starting out on their life’s journey.
We wish the school, its staff, board of management, and students continued success in all their endeavours.
Proud to have passed through the halls of this school and delighted to see how it continues to grow and evolve. A progressive primary in every way.
A Sad Farewell
With great sadness the parish said goodbye to Timmy O’Sullivan of Two Gneeves, one of its best loved sons.
In the course of the past week, I’ve heard so many great stories about Timmy from his friends and neighbours.
With his keen wit and his hat at a jaunty angle, he was known to all.
My last memory of Timmy is from only a few weeks ago at a pub gathering where he sang with his unique flair.
We send our heartfelt condolences to Breda his loving partner, his sister Kathleen and all who miss him.
I like to think that he is in a cantina somewhere, south of the border down Mexico way, enjoying a fiesta or two. Rest in Peace, Timmy.
