“A Gentleman – If Ever There Was One”

The late Dave Doody was a regular on the traditional music scenes in the Castleisland area and around his native Mountcollins and neighbouring areas.

He was one of the anchor men in the regular Tuesday night session in Kearney’s Bar in Castleisland – in which he played for seven years and missed just one night in that time.

“Dave Doody was a gentleman if ever there was one – he was a pleasure to deal with and to have in the house,” said Betty O’Connell the host at Kearney’s.

“He was so easy going and pleasant and he always had a great welcome for new and young musicians who joined the session and he made them feel at home. God be good to Dave – we’ll all miss him here,” said Betty.
