Three Castleisland Community College Junior Cycle 2022 students: Eilís Enright, Caitríona Murphy and Rowan O’Sullivan have been invited to an Awards Ceremony in University of Limerick.

The three students were chosen by the Kemmy Business School in the university due to achieving a distinction – a grade between 90-100% – in the Junior Cycle examination 2022.

The students along with their parents and teacher Laura Leahy are all invited to the ceremony in March 2023.

Credit to Students and Teacher

“There is great credit due to both the students and their teacher for being awarded such a high grade. It certainly reflects the work ethos of the students and also the excellent standard of teaching by Ms. Leahy,” according to a statement from the college.

“Laura, however, doesn’t just focus on the academic side of business but also on the practical skills necessary for the world of business and she places a very strong emphasis on entrepreneurship, commitment and enthusiasm.

Entrepreneurial Educator Award

At the Kerry Student Enterprise Awards 2021, the school won the coveted award of Entrepreneurial Educator of the year and the most Enterprising School Award.

The school also won six county and two national awards that year. The Irish language board game Timpeall an Tí designed and marketed by Eilís Enright, Keeva Ahern, Ciara Shanahan and Ella Killington won the Gradam na Gaeilge Award and the Intermediate Category Award.

The game also won the National Intellectual Property Award and it came third in the overall National Intermediate Category in 2021.

National Foróige Entrepreneurship Winners

Eilís and her team also won the regional final of the Foróige Entrepreneurship competition and they represented Munster in the national finals.

“This year, again under the guidance of Ms. Leahy two fifth year students, Shauna O’Keeffe and David Peskett, won the National Foróige Entrepreneurship final in May and they will represent Ireland in Austria in 2023 at the World Youth Entrepreneurship Competition.

“Caitríona Murphy and Rowan O’Sullivan, who are in Transition year, will be taking part in this year’s Kerry Student Enterprise Awards. They will be showcasing their products at the annual school Christmas Craft Fair. Go n-éirí libh,” the statement concluded.
