Members of Castleisland District Heritage (CDH) have declared themselves most grateful to Thomas Keneally for his magnanimous offer to speak at a public gathering as a fundraiser for their project – the recording of local history and lore.

Mr. Keneally will be the guest at the River Island Hotel in Castleisland on this Friday night, February 24th at 8pm and the event will be moderated by Frank Lewis of Radio Kerry.

“Tom, even apart from Schindler’s List, is one of the most prolific authors of the last half century, with numerous awards,” said project manager Janet Murphy.

“He discovered our website at home in Australia and was impressed and decided to make contact when he came over to Ireland,” Ms. Murphy continued.

“Now, there is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to participate in a debate with one of the world’s great authors and we’re appealing to the public to support this very worthy project,” she concluded.
