St. Patrick’s Day Parade Community Support Funding Allocations Announcement

In advance of the 2023 Community Support Fund meetings scheduled for the end of March 2023 and based on a recommendation received from the CSF assessment panel, it is proposed to approve the following amounts to support St. Patrick Day Festivals.

Where the amounts awarded are in line with previous year allocations, under the CSF, these amounts will be granted.

The applicant groups are being informed of their allocations to enable the planning of these events to go ahead.

Castleisland St. Patrick’s Day Festival Committee, you will see from the accompanying chart, has been awarded €1,000. Tralee Chamber Alliance is to get €8,000 as is Killarney Chamber of Commerce.

Glór na nGael, Listowel will receive €650 for its parade and festivities with Killorglin Events Committee, Castlemaine Events Committee and Caherciveen Alliance getting €500 each.

Pipe Band and United Nations Veterans

This year the Castleisland parade will leave the Castleisland Co-Op Mart grounds via the Crageens at the top-of-the-town at 1.30pm led by the Cullen Pipe Band and members of the Irish United Nations Veterans Association Post 2.

Des Martin will take on the role of St. Patrick – one previously filled by his late father Joe Martin since the first St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Castleisland in 1989.

Chief marshals will be the 2022 European boxing silver medalists Jamesie Casey and Mary McDonagh who won their medals in Turkey and Italy respectively.

Both entrance and exit points to and from the mart will be one way only. There will be more details as the big day moves ever closer to us.
