St. Patrick’s Secondary School students are engaging with a positive and progressive initiative in partnership with Kerry Mental Health and the Second Chance Charity Shop in Castleisland.

Transition Year students took part in a very informative workshop on the ‘5 Ways of Well-being’ with guest speaker John Drummy.

Mental Health and Relevant Topics

As part of this workshop, students had an in-depth discussion on mental health and relevant topics with their peers.

Students then put their creative and artistic skills to great use when they produced their own artwork inspired by the ‘5 Ways to Well-being’ which are: Connect, Be Active, Take Notice, Keep Learning and Give.

Creativity on Show at Second Chance

In the coming weeks some of this work will be placed on display in the Second Chance Charity Shop to continue to spread awareness of the valuable messages on well-being,  as seen from the perspective of present day teenagers.

This combination of learning, discussion and creativity provides students with a number of very valuable outlets to help bolster, scaffold and progress their own well-being while also engaging with the local community in a meaningful way.
