Fingers are crossed throughout Kerry again this week and they’ll remain so until the bells of the Angelus peal on Sunday evening.

The county is patriotically awash with the its favourite colours as Mná Chiarraí head to Dublin on Sunday to see to some unfinished business – as The Kerryman ladies football reporter Dan Kearney wrote in last week’s issue.

This is TG4 Ladies All-Ireland Senior, Junior and Intermediate Football Championship Finals weekend and the Mná Chiarraí will take to the field at 4pm in their quest for glory and the followers of the county team are doubly wound up about it.

The unfinished business of last year – and the fact that this is a mirror image of the clash of the senior men’s final of a couple of weeks ago – is all feeding into the frenzy as the weekend approaches.

Meanwhile, RTÉ has scheduled to visit Castleisland at around 3pm today Wednesday 9th as part of its ladies football county hot-spots coverage.

A Note from Aileen

A note from local stalwart, singer and mom, of wing back Cáit, Aileen Lynch tips off local supporters and urges a fitting turnout for the county’s heroines as they prepare for the game of their lives.

“I’ve just got word that RTÉ will be in town today doing a report on the support and colour around the town, so can you get word out to homes and businesses to get as many flags and posters as possible flying. They are due at 3pm approximately,” said Aileen.

Leaving Garvey’s at 12 on Saturday

“Also the Kerry team will be leaving Garvey’s SuperValu car-park on Saturday at 12 noon so if people could be there to wave them off that would be great too .

“We will also be hosting a home-coming in town on Monday evening – whatever the result. Details will be released later,” Aileen signed off.

While wishing the ladies every bounce of the ball in the final, let’s hope that the home-coming host will have a party on their hands come Monday evening.
