Castleisland Family Resource Centre Autumn / Winter Classes Return

Castleisland Family Resource Centre Manager Liz Galwey inset against an example of decoupage – classes in which will kick off the autumn / winter programme at the Church Street, Castleisland centre on September 18th.

Castleisland Family Resource Centre has a number of events and classes coming up over the coming months.

The autumn/winter programme commences with the transformative art of decoupage on September 18th.

Kerry ETB tutor Breda Galwey will guide participants through the art of decoupage which involves cutting out pictures from magazines – for example – and gluing them to an object and then coating and sealing the pictures and the object with layers of varnish.

Items which can be decorated can include boxes, furniture, vases and much more. This class will run from 2pm to 4pm each Monday for six weeks.

Funded by Kerry ETB

This class is funded by Kerry ETB and can be booked by contacting Castleisland FRC for a code for online booking.

A Supporting Parents and Carers class will also commence on September 18th. This class is aimed at parents of children aged between five and 12 years and will run for six consecutive evenings from 7pm-9pm.

The purpose of the course is to provide an environment that aims to offer support to parents in learning the benefits of self-care and look at how they might manage to try different approaches to help deal with the challenges of parenting.

Talk and Share Experiences

Small group discussions will afford participants a confidential space to talk and share positives and difficulties of their parenting journey.

This class is run by Castleisland FRC, facilitated by Sheila Fitzgerald and funded by the following: NEWKD; SICAP and government funded through the department of rural and community development and co funded by the European social fund under the programme for employ-ability, inclusion and learning.

A book club for children in third class will recommence on October 18th. Application forms will be distributed through the schools.
