Christine and Malcolm Pollard from Ballintourig, Currow were the guests of honour at the An Ríocht Athletic Club 50/50 Draw at Costello’s Shoe Shop at Upper Main Street, Castleisland on a very warm Friday evening.
Christine collected her last week’s winning cheque for €527 before the draw drum was spun again and Christine dipped in and emerged with Castleisland woman, Sandra Conway’s ticket for a prize of €525.
An Ríocht AC Chairman Joe Walsh thanked all the club’s supporters for making the weekly draw and prizes possible.
Congrats to Shona and Niamh
He also took the opportunity to congratulate club members Shona Heaslip and her coach Niamh O’Sullivan.
Shona is the holder of over 30 caps for Ireland in representative athletics as well as county, Munster, Irish and international honours and titles.
Only recently she won gold in the women’s 10,000m at the National Combined Events Championships and AAI games at Morton Stadium in Santry and in the process she knocked 25 seconds of a record that has stood since the late 1980s.
