Emma – A Budding Artist in Loughfouder National School

Emma Brosnan, a fourth class pupil in Loughfouder National School, Knocknagoshel was selected as a highly commended prize winner for a Webwise Art Competition under the heading Promoting Respect and Empathy Online.

Webwise is an online safety organisation and the competition was judged by renowned Irish Artist Mazer, who was very impressed with Emma’s poster, saying that ‘the poster made great use of space and colour and had an excellent slogan.’ 

Hundreds of Entries

There were hundreds of entries to the competition and being shortlisted is an incredible accomplishment for the pupil and the school.

She was one of 12 winners in with categories from first class to under 18.

Meeting Mazer

Emma attended an awards ceremony in Dublin and as her prize, Emma got the chance to meet Irish artist Mazer and her art work is now displayed for public viewing in Mazer’s Art gallery.

The Online Commissioner Niamh Hodnett and RTÉ News were also present at the ceremony to mark the launch of the new Junior Cycle resource on the topic of online bullying.
