The third Tuesday of the month, Padre Pio Devotions will continue in the Church of Saints Stephen and John in Castleisland on this Tuesday night, October 17th at 7:30pm

Padre Pio’s Healing Glove will be available for blessings on the night.

The glove was presented to Castleisland PP Fr. Mossie Brick by Fr. Bryan Shortall the Capuchin Franciscan Order Superior in Ireland on a snowy winter’s night in the middle of last January.

The ‘witness’ which has been a feature of the devotions since they began in January 2020 under the direction of Fr. Brick will be given by Maura Egan from Abbeydorney.

“Maura has an amazing story, fuelled by the love, faithfulness and bravery of a mother – as she nurses her son Darren through the trauma of a bleed to the brain – with St. Pio’s healing glove as a powerful force,” according to a statement from the parish office.

Iconic Finger-less Gloves

“Several pairs of the iconic finger-less gloves were found in his cell after his death in 1968. We’re privileged that one of them is being handed over to the parish,” Fr. Brick explained on hearing the news of the granting of custody of the glove.

Anyone who needs a seat at the devotions should get to the church a little ahead of the 7:30pm starting time. The event will be well stewarded as usual and help will be available to anyone in need of it.

For people who can’t attend the devotions will be live-streamed from 7:30pm on Tuesday night on:  https://www.churchservices.tv/castleisland
