Couch-to-5K is Back Tonight

Meanwhile, Couch-to-5K is back on track on this Monday night, November 6th from 7:15pm for a 30 minute session and on Thursday night from 8:15pm also for half an hour.

The cost of the sessions will be €3 per person per night and national school children will be free of charge but they will need to be supervised by a parent / guardian at all times.

“We are very excited about the return of Couch-2-5K,” said facility manager, Lisa Horgan at the launch amongst a group of equally delighted supporters most of whom experienced the previous incarnation of the programme.

“We aim to encourage and help people back to a level of fitness which we know they can achieve in the motivational atmosphere of a group setting,” said Lisa.

Return Widely Welcomed

The announcement by the club a couple of weeks ago that its once hugely popular Couch-to-5K group training programme is to be re-introduced has been widely welcomed.

For the most of a decade from its initiation in the late summer 2012 it created a mass movement of enjoyable, collective training and a broad approach to community health and well being.

The revival of the programme is setting out to put all the pieces of that success back on track for the benefit of those in the community who would like to avail of the opportunity between here and Christmas – initially.

Help and Encouragement

The concept of Couch-to-5K does just what it says and it allows all participants to progress at their own pace – backed up by all the help and encouragement they’ll need along the way. Bringing a friend or family member for extra support is recommended.

The club facilities are well lit and there’s ample car parking space in a safe and supervised environment. The 30 minute sessions are book-ended by warm-up and cool down periods and participants be in and out in the space of the allotted 30 minutes.
