St. Patrick’s Secondary School Student Wins Prestigious UCC Award

On Monday, November 27th Séamus Fleming was awarded a University College Cork Quercus Entrance Scholarship for the 2023/2024 academic year.

The award was based on his outstanding achievements in his Leaving Certificate achieved at St Patrick’s Secondary School, Castleisland where he received seven H1s.

Séamus also received the school’s Academic Student of the Year award in sixth year for his academic contribution to St. Patrick’s during his time at the school.

Quercus Entrance Scholarship

He was presented the Quercus Entrance Scholarship award by the President of UCC Professor John O’Halloran.

Also present at the ceremony were presiding professors and academics from UCC.

In his speech, at the start of proceedings, Professor O’Halloran congratulated the schools on the great honour these awards bestow upon them, in recognition of the schools’ excellent academic achievements.

An Exemplary Student

The school community congratulated Séamus and his family, dad and mom Séamus and Kathleen and brother Pádraig on this prestigious award.

“Séamus was an exemplary student at his time in St. Pat’s and this award reflects his commitment to his studies throughout his six years attending the school,” said a spokesman at St. Pat’s.
