It’s St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal and Church Gate Collection Weekend

The annual St. Vincent de Paul Society church gate collections will be taken up at all local churches over the coming weekend.

This coming weekend, the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul will hold its annual church gate collection all over the country.

The local branch will be collecting outside churches in Castleisland, Cordal, Scartaglen, Currow and Ballymacelligott / Clogher.

The society recently launched its Christmas campaign under the title The Wonder of Christmas with the subtitle Will we have Christmas at all.

The years 2022 and 2023 have been difficult with increases in many day-to-day necessities such as groceries, electricity, fuel and mortgage rates.

Putting Food on The Table

While Santa will take care of his side of things, the worry of simply putting food on the table is something that is a real issue for many.

With this in mind, the Castleisland branch asks that you be as generous as is possible at collections this weekend.

As always SVP encourages people who need assistance to make contact and not to be embarrassed to do so.

Avoid Money Lenders

All cases are dealt with in confidence. “Please stay away from money lenders,” is the message from the local branch.
