Nora Coffey was happy to join her colleagues from the No. 44 Main Street, Castleisland based Kingdom Revamp for her retirement get-together at the River Island Hotel recently.

However, there was a bit of a land in store for Nora as a birthday cake rolled into view and an up-scaling of the occasion to a double celebration.

Nora and her work colleagues from No. 44 were marking her final day at the office where she served as a highly efficient and gently persuasive sales woman over the 11 years she spent with the thriving North, East and West Kerry Development backed furniture up-cycling business.

Nora and Cousin Winnie

Nora and her cousin Winnie Coffey joined ‘Revamp’ when it was based at The Crageens and then they moved to J.K.’s.  Nora ended her stint earlier this month at the relocated, old Bank of Ireland building on Main Street.

Winnie’s retirement couldn’t be celebrated as it fell during the lock-down period.

Kingdom Revamp manager Marie Keane said that they have been super role models for the Travelling Community in Castleisland and that they have provided outstanding service to the business during their years of involvement.

Nora’s Involvement Continues

“We’re delighted to say that Nora will still be very involved here with us on a voluntary basis as we plan to set up a Traveller women’s group here in Castleisland and we’re hoping that Nora and the other women here will lead the group.

“Nora proved her ability in communications and sales here in Revamp and we actually had people coming in looking for her. She had a great way with people and she was pure natural in dealing with them and wouldn’t lose a sale for the sake of making that deal.

Sincerity and Friendship in Ink

“We don’t want to lose a woman of her calibre when we have plans to set up the women’s group and we see her as a natural leader – she has proved that on so many occasions throughout her time here,” said Marie.

Marie’s sincerity on their friendship was also committed to ink as she wrote on Nora’s birthday card: “Chance made us colleagues, but the fun and laughter made us friends.”

Nora won’t be idle as she and her late husband Batty had nine children. She is now grandmother to 38 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 11 great-grandchildren.
