Castleisland Parish Holy Week Ceremonies 2024

The following is the programme of ceremonies for Holy Week in the Castleisland area provided by the parish office.

Holy Thursday

On Holy Thursday, March 28th. 2024 at Castleisland Parish Church at 8pm the Mass of the Last Supper.

As a parish we commemorate the Last Supper at which Jesus celebrated the First Mass and Institution of the Eucharist.

The ceremony will include a Blessing of Eucharistic Ministers.

Good Friday

On Good Friday, March 29th 2024 people are encouraged to come to the Presbytery Lawn at 2.30pm.

A procession will be led by a cross-bearer and the Rosary will be recited en route to Castleisland Parish Church for Liturgy at 3pm with a commemoration of the time that Jesus died for us.

The Good Friday Liturgy: The Liturgy of the Word, the Veneration of the Cross, and Holy Communion.

Stations of the Cross at 8pm. Time for private prayer on your own until 12midnight in Castleisland Parish Church.

Easter Saturday

Easter Saturday night Vigil on March 30th 2024 at 8pm with Mass and ceremonies for the Vigil of Easter in Castleisland Parish Church only.

Easter Sunday

On Easter Sunday morning at 6am., Scartaglen will celebrate its first dawn Mass at the village cemetery.

People who need to sit down at the Dawn Mass are advised to ‘please bring your chair.’

Easter Sunday Mass Times: in Cordal at 9am. in Scartaglen at 10.15am and in Castleisland at 11.30am.
