A Leading Light in Castleisland

Dano Dennehy (82) was a leading light in the business and commercial life of Castleisland over the past few decades. As such he would have sponsored and supported many cultural and sporting events in the town and district which need that kind of back-up.

He was one of the people who stepped forward in April 1999 when Castleisland was beginning to realise that a golf club and course was within reach if only the finances could be found to move it that giant leap forward.

Club Captain and President

With his club colleagues and solid friends Andrew Kelliher and Tomo Burke and their committee they realised the dream on a fine Saturday morning on June 1st 2002 when the first official balls were struck in celebration on the new course at Tulligubeen.

Andrew and Tomo in particular should be added to those who will miss him most as they met with great regularity at The Country Market for their morning coffee for years.  May God be good to him.
