Castleisland Community College All Ireland A Division Basketball Finals

The U-15 boys basketball team won the All Ireland playoffs defeating Malahide Community College, St. Mel’s Longford and Coláiste Choilm, Ballincollig last Wednesday.

The event was hosted by Castleisland Community College in the Community Centre. The team is now through to the  All Ireland semi-final and will play St Patrick’s Grammar School, Armagh.

The two semi-finals take place on this Thursday in the National Basketball Arena, Tallaght and the final will also be played on the same day.

Thirteen All-Ireland Titles

The team is coached by Maurice Casey with Máire Mc Loughlin as assistant coach. Principal Teresa Lonergan said that Maurice and the team are hoping to bring another All Ireland win back to the school having already succeeded in attaining an amazing 13 All Ireland championship wins over the years.

“Last year this team won the U-14 A Division Basketball All Ireland with Maurice and they now hope to make it two in a row. The commitment by coaches and players is evident with training every Thursday morning from 8am to 9am. We wish them the best of luck,” said Ms. Lonergan.
