As Sunday didn’t turn out a bit like the day we feared it would, its evening weather encouraged a healthy engagement with the great outdoors locally.
The late afternoon and evening brought lots of walkers in couples, family groups and individuals onto the streets and on the fantastically improved river walk stretches between Killarney Road and The Crageens.
We missed out on what local fishermen traditionally called the ‘Puck Flood’ this year but we had the Listowel Races flood this weekend and there was a fine brown gush flowing down the River Maine on Sunday.
And the good news is that the Met Éireann forecast for the week ahead is peppered with welcome little phrases like: drier and brighter, largely dry and sunny spells.
There are others in there too but they don’t fit into the Monday morning scheme of things and they dominated our conversations for too long over the summer.
Today’s Weather
Mostly cloudy this morning with patchy rain and drizzle spreading from the northwest but it will become drier and brighter in the southwest with sunny spells.
During the afternoon, the cloud and rain will become largely confined to Ulster and north Leinster with a mix of sunshine and scattered showers elsewhere.
Much of the country will become dry in the evening. Highest temperatures of 11 to 16 degrees in moderate to fresh northwest winds.
Tonight
It will be dry across the bulk of the country tonight with clear spells.
However, there is the chance of a few showers in Leinster. Minimum temperatures of six to nine degrees in light to moderate northerly winds with a few mist patches forming.
Largely Dry Tomorrow
Tuesday will be largely dry with plenty of sunshine and just a few isolated light showers.
Top temperatures will range from 13 to 16 degrees in moderate northerly winds.
