
While crowds estimated to be in tens of thousands are filing past the remains of Pope Francis at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, plans to mark the death of the 266th Pope on Easter Monday are advanced here in Castleisland.
A public Mass will be celebrated in Castleisland Parish Church for Pope Francis on Wednesday, April 30th at 7.30pm and a book of condolences has been opened in the church for the Argentinian who was elected Pope in March 2013.
Locals, Tourists and Pilgrims
Locals in Rome have been joined by tourists and pilgrims as they queue for hours to pay their respects to Pope Francis in the course of his remains lying in state over the three days.
At the end of the first eight hours from the time the doors opened an estimate close to 20,000 had filed past his coffin.
